"Calm-Hearted" A new 12-step group for women
With three years as a Celebrate Recovery 12 step youth leader for over 700 families, Jamie spent several years on her own recovery journey as well:
“When people hear “12 step” they have mental pictures from movies, shows, or personal; your own past experiences or others regarding other 12-step groups out there. Things I noticed that don’t work for some groups and people trying them: The vibe is negative, self-labeling, unsafe, judgemental, unhelpful (surface-layer), or unrealistic-painting a picture of a magic wand being waved over trauma. Things I wanted to bring when creating this group: a safe, positive, raw, real, uplifting, inspiring, hard work group where we feel safe to share, not feel judged, and build on our healing one moment at a time. Drawing on faith, spiritual strength and the community of others focused on healing, this is a space to come together in a beautiful, serene environment.
“Alcohol and drugs are not my issue”- Only a small portion of the women in this group will have these as their core issue they want accountability for. And 100 percent welcome. If you’re like many of us when our lives are unmanageable: you have mixed issues that show as codependency, grief, anxiety, control, anger, depression, shopping, emotional eating, people-pleasing/overcommitment, making unhealthy choices in environments or relationships, and much more. There are so many variations in dealing with our past-and deep down, these all come from the same place.
“Sound like something you’ve been needing, but you are thinking man… this sounds intimidating? Getting started looks different for everyone: for the introvert who hates speaking, or maybe you just need time to see if it’s right for you, and you need something passive-This could mean just sitting in on a group, just listening to others. You are welcome to do this for weeks, and just doing the workbook on your own time. You will never be judged for NOT sharing or only trying it once -Your presence is still powerful! You may be very surprised how NOT alone you really are. When you are ready to engage more, wonderful-we have established safeguards where you will be able to share without interruption, judgement, comments, or shame, and where you will feel seen and valued. The more you attend and the more you engage in the “homework”, the more proactive you are empowering yourself to be in your walk.
This group will meet weekly on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. and group will start promptly at 7:15 p.m. The door will be locked to the outside at 7:15 p.m. until closing for safety and to maintain group continuity. You are welcome to leave early, of course!
The layout:
7:00-7:15 arrive, refresh, connect, quiet your phones
7:15-7:40 Jamie will lead a 20 minute deep dive in the month’s focus area then go over some information about Calm-Hearted group (what to expect, what it is and isn’t, workbook info)
7:40-7:45 a 5 minute break time to refill your tea or use the restroom
7:45-8:30 open share group guidelines for safe sharing, and group. You are welcome to simply listen, or share for a few minutes about anything or in response to the evening’s focus message during this time.
8:30-8:45 Refresh, connect, visit freely
Jamie will provide a digital workbook link to any who are interested, and physical copies are available for $10 to cover printing costs.
I have a feeling this group will start small, we do have a limited capacity in the spa, and so unlike most open share groups I won’t require but would appreciate a text if you are interested in coming :) 253-867-7772 or email me at jamie@allaglowspa.com with questions.
I am SO honored and excited to be doing this work with you-healing is a lifelong journey.
Blessings to your journey, Jamie
